  • Babies: 6-8 weeks
  • Toddlers: 12 weeks

No. But the course has a set curriculum that is followed and built upon each week. Therefore you will be expected to attend as many sessions as possible. Please note that these courses are NOT drop-ins.

The groups become “closed” after session two. Therefore, if you have not attended the first two sessions you will be offered another course in the future.

If you have attended the majority of the course you will receive a certificate from us.

Groups vary in size from 6-12 people and are a mixture of parent/carers. All parent/carers will have been allocated groups based on the age of their child and postcode area.

We find that due to the diverse mix of parents in groups there is often common ground between them. Remember: just being parents means you already have something in common!!

The groups follow a weekly curriculum which covers: Play, Social, Emotion and Academic Coaching, Praise, Reward Charts, Household Rules, Limit Setting/Positive Discipline (including Time Out to Calm Down on Basic School age and School Age courses) and Problem Solving.

Each session includes: group discussion, watching DVD clips, practices, and home practice, to enable you to explore Incredible Years in a safe and supportive environment.

The groups are run by fully trained IY facilitators, from Plymouth Information, Advice and Support for SEND Service, who receive regular supervision. These run in partnership with other agencies, including: Children’s Centres, Schools, Health Visitors and other professionals providing support for parents.
